Hubble 1

Description

Hubble 1 is a small monotype print, about 15 cm x 15 cm.  It is one of a series of prints inspired by Hubble telescope images. I made it with acrylics on paper. The series began as experiments in producing soft blended colours. As I worked, the similarity to the amazing Hubble images became apparent. After producing a couple, I deliberately went down that path.

Although this and its partners in the series are small, I made them in exactly the same way as the larger pieces in the shop. I use multiple thin layers of paint so that underlying colours show through. This produces subtle gradations of colour. The multiple layers also create a visible physical texture to the surface.

Each print is in a mount, with a backing card and all in a protective cello bag. The image is 15 cm x 15 cm (6″ x 6″) while the mount will fit a 25 cm x 25 cm (10″ x 10″) frame.
