Description
Hubble 2 is a small monotype print, about 15 cm x 15 cm. It developed out of experiments in producing soft blended colours. I made it with acrylics on paper. As I worked, the similarity to the amazing images of galaxies and nebulae from the Hubble Telescope became apparent. I ended up making an extended series of these prints, all inspired by Hubble.
Although this and its partners in the series are small, I made them in exactly the same way as the larger pieces in the shop. I use multiple thin layers of paint so that underlying colours show through. This produces subtle gradations of colour. The multiple layers also create a visible physical texture to the surface.
Each print is 15 cm x 15 cm (6″ x 6″) and has been mounted on a cradled wooden panel, with painted edges and sealed.
