Forbert

Forbert was probably completed around the same time as Carnival by the Sea (see here). It shares the same sweeping serpentine shape, combined with more characteristic mark‑making such as the barred blocks of colour. These prints are not made in a single session: layers are added over time in an intuitive process that responds to the outcomes of previous additions. Knowing when to stop is sometimes harder than knowing how to start, and it may take a couple of weeks after the final layer before I know the work is finished.
