Deep Dive

Deep Dive was probably completed around the same time as Diving for Rubies (see here). It shares the same palette and the characteristic mark‑making such as the barred blocks of colour. The dominant blue colour underlaid by greeny yellows brings to mind fish weaving through sea grass.

These prints are not made in a single session: layers are added over time in an intuitive process that responds to the outcomes of previous additions. Knowing when to stop is sometimes harder than knowing how to start, and it may take a couple of weeks after the final layer before I know the work is finished.
